RFA boys bounce back from first loss

The Rome Free Academy boys lacrosse team rebounded from a lopsided 18-4 loss to perennial Section III powerhouse Fayetteville-Manlius with a 12-4 triumph over Whitesboro on Saturday at the Stadium.

Dylan Sbarglia erupted with four goals and made an assist to pace the Black Knights, as Jake Gulla added two goals and three assists, and Pat Giardino recorded two goals and an assist.

Nick Bonanza also had a goal and a helper, while Rich Stapleton, Preston Davis and Drew Hinman each scored a goal. Devin Trifeletti and Mike Mahl each made an assist as well.

Goaltender RJ Ferrucci made eight saves and Nick Argenzia grabbed one save in relief.

Matt Felitto knocked in two goals for Whitesboro, as Geoff Webb and Ted Olney each put in a goal.

Rome’s record moves to 4-1 overall.
