Double house fire in Utica

At least four tenants have been displaced from their homes after a fire on Lincoln Avenue in Utica spread to a neighboring residence Friday evening.

Fire officials said the fire started at 1243 Lincoln Ave. on the city’s west side sometime at about 7 p.m. Residents Raymond and Margaret Hart were visiting a relative next door and were not at home when the fire broke out. By the time firefighters responded, the flames had spread to neighboring 1245 Lincoln Ave., authorities stated.

The two residents of 1245 Lincoln Ave. were also not home at the time. No one was injured.

Fire crews remained on the scene fighting both fires for several hours. Officials said they were able to stop the fire from spreading to a third residence.

The case of the fire remains under investigation today.
