A Rome man has been charged with promoting kiddie porn after law enforcers raided his Batavia Avenue residence Friday.
More charges are pending an investigation that stretches across multiple states, authorities said.
Steven R. Garmany, 50, of 917 Batavia Avenue, was taken into custody after Rome police raided his home Friday. Police said they seized computers, cell phones, storage devices and other computer paraphernalia. The investigation is continuing.
Police said Garmany is charged with two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony. He was arraigned in City Court and sent to county jail without bail, and is scheduled to reappear in court this afternoon.
Rome Police were assisted by the county Child Advocacy Center, the Utica Police, the state police and the Bergen County, New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crime Unit.
