VVS drops basketball game at home court to Nottingham

VERONA — The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys basketball team was bit by a decisive 29-9 second period run by Nottingham High of Syracuse and couldn’t recover as the Red Devils lost at home, 97-53, on Wednesday.

Nottingham fired in 11 three-point baskets along the way with four coming from Tyquan Rolon, who finished with a game-high 23 points, and three by Jaquan Adams, who tallied 20 points. Bryan Ogletree scored 13 points, and Kamron Davis hit 11 points for the 9-4 overall Bulldogs.

Jesse Whitmeyer and Joe Spinella each scored nine points apiece for 6-8 overall VVS, and Brett Field had seven points.

The Red Devils will try to snap their three-game slide when they next host Utica’s Notre Dame during Coaches vs. Cancer Night and Senior Night on Tuesday at 7 p.m. All donations will made to the American Cancer Society.
