Jan. 11 grass fire?

TOWN OF VERONA — Volunteers were dispatched late this morning to a possible grass fire on Jug Point Road.

A crew from Sylvan Beach was sent to a residence at 6813 Jug Point Road at about 11:30 a.m., according to county Emergency Services. Firefighters found nothing visible, according to reports, but just having grass is the last thing people expect in their yard in mid-January, when the green grass is usually buried under several inches of white snow.

Temperatures were in the 40s through the county today. There is, however, a winter weather warning going for tonight.
