Teens charged in vandalism
WATERVILLE — Two teen-agers have been charged with a small crime spree at the School House Apartments, including stealing bicycles and shooting out windows with BB guns.
Sheriff’s deputies said residents of the apartment building on Stafford Avenue were complaining for several weeks about someone using a BB gun to shoot out lights, windows and into walls. Several bicycles had also been stolen from the basement.
Together, the residents of the School House Apartments worked with investigators to identify and locate Michael Simpson, 18, of Sangerfield, and Michael Frazier, 19, of Waterville, authorities said. Neither teen lived in the building. Both teens have been charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree mischief, both felonies.
"They have friends there," explained Lt. James McCarthy. "It’s a place to hang out."
The pair were arraigned and sent to county jail on $20,000 cash bail or bond. Deputies said further charges are pending. The bicycles were eventually recovered and returned to the proper owners.
