Camden grad helps Coe College net title

Camden graduate Jackie Bakken was a part of the Coe College women’s volleyball team as it claimed its first-ever Iowa Conference Championship in school history this fall.

The freshman played under the 2011 Iowa Conference Coach of the Year, DeAnn Woodin, while helping the team finish the season with a 31-4 overall record and a perfect 8-0 mark in the Iowa Conference season. The 31 wins by Coe is also the most in school history.

Rome’s Brognano ranked sixth in D3 scoring

Rome native and Rome Free Academy graduate Lyndsey Brognano is ranked sixth in average points per game in Division III women’s basketball.

The junior has tallied 22.6 points per game for the 4-2 overall SUNYIT Lady Wildcats of the North Atlantic Conference, tying her with Kathleen Payne of Plattsburgh State. Caty Eeten of Eureka has averaged 29.4 points to lead all of Division III.
