WHITESTOWN — A 24-year-old man was hospitalized after his car plowed through a utility pole on Clinton Road Wednesday afternoon.
Law enforcers said the broken pole was left dangling from the wires.
Dustin Davis, of Whitesboro, was northbound on Clinton Road at 1:23 p.m. when his 2006 Volvo left the pavement and hit the pole near Glenridge Road, police said. The impact sheared the pole from the ground and left the top half dangling from the electrical wires.
Authorities said the weight of the pole on the wires caused a second nearby pole to crack.
Davis was treated and released from St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica for back and neck injuries. Police said he was ticketed for unreasonable speed and is scheduled to appear in Town Court in January.
Authorities said the area was without power for several hours while National Grid worked on the problem.
