MARCY — SUNY Institute of Technology awarded more than 300 bachelor’s and maser’s degrees to August and December graduates at commencement ceremonies held Dec. 15 at the campus.

Young people in Rome who don’t have computers at home can still use this technology for their school work thanks to a partnership between a local business and the Boys and Girls Club. A computer cafe has been set up through donations by Michael Fulgieri of the Computer Geek, 212 N. George St.

One hundred years ago today, the Rome Daily Sentinel began permanent publication as a daily newspaper. It had previously published as a daily between 1852 and 1861 but reverted to a weekly due to cost factors. Its origin was a weekly first published in February 1821. It remains today one of the fewer than 600 daily papers in the country still under independent, private ownership.

A 5.8 percent increase in the cost of Oneida County government, 1960 over 1959, is reported by State Comptroller Arthur Levitt. Last year, Oneida County spent $53,211,177, compared to $50,289,746 in 1959.
