Santa’s Oriskany tour aided by firefighters and satellite tracking

ORISKANY — Volunteer firefighters will become holiday helpers on Sunday as the escort Santa Claus through the village and fire district in the Town of Whitestown.

Santa, Mrs. Claus and their firefighting elves will embark at noon on Sunday. Students in the Oriskany School District were given fliers to post in their home windows, so Santa knows to stop. During his visit, the holiday crew will be collecting non-perishable goods to be delivered to a local food bank to help during the Christmas season.

This year, a new twist has been added. Through the donation of GPS licensing software from and cell phones, children will be able to click on a link found at that will be available Sunday morning to watch as Santa travels through the district and will remain active until he departs for the North Pole.

Parents are urged to listen for the Christmas music as Santa gets closer and remind children to stay away from the roadway until Santa arrives at their door step.
