Quacking Down Breast Cancer event in Utica

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Cooperative Magnetic Imaging of Utica will host their "Quacking Down on Breast Cancer" event, with proceeds going to support The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, on Saturday, Oct. 22.

CMI has pink rubber ducks available for adoption at every CMI location at the Utica Business Park, Slocum Dickson, and the St. Luke’s and St. Elizabeth’s campuses, in addition to WINK and College Street Café in Clinton.

Ducks can be adopted for $3 each or two for $5. Each person adopting will receive an adoption certificate and get a chance to see their duck swim at the Macy’s fountain at Sangertown Mall on Oct. 22.

Several prizes will be awarded, including a $50 gift certificate to the mall, gift baskets filled with goodies, I Tune Cards and more. Winners need not be present to win.

Dr. Nancy Shaheen, a CMI radiologist, will be the official duck picker and announce the winners.

"We thought this would be a fun way to raise money in the fight against breast cancer," said Lori Darmody, CMI’s marketing director. "Our employee’s and medical staff have been so supportive. As a breast MRI provider, we know first-hand how important it is for people to have an awareness about breast cancer prevention and education."
