Alan W. Samson, 53, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born on October 5, 1957 in Rome, the son of Willard E. and Pearl Lisby Samson. Alan was a graduate of the RFA class of 1975.
As a young adult he enjoyed hunting in the fall. Working on his cars passed many an hour. Mechanical, body or electrical, he enjoyed the challenge of repairing it himself. Alan was a machine operator at Rome Cable Corp. until he became disabled in the 1980’s. Reading became his outlet. Time drifted by with a book in one hand and his feline friend, Fluffy, in the other.
Surviving are his sister, Carol Hernandez of Rome; a niece, Courtney Joseph and a nephew, Joshua Joseph.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Strong and Burns Funeral Home, 401 N. George St. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
