More honors for Rome golfer Campbell

NORMAN, Okla. — Newberry College junior golfer and Rome native Matthew Campbell has been named to the Division II PING All-Southeast Region by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Campbell completed his junior campaign as the 2011 South Atlantic Conference Golfer of the Year. He completed 31 rounds, with 11 rounds at or below par and a 73.8 stroke average, and tied for medalist honors at the Honda of Columbia Fall Classic with teammate Ben Lown and won the title in a playoff.

Campbell has also earned all-SAC honors in all three seasons of his career, earning first team honors in 2011 after second team honors in 2009 and 2010. He is currently playing in the prestigious Monroe Invitational in Rochester.

Fellow Newberry golfer Daniel Stanley was also named to the PING All-Southeast Region team.
