Ida G. LaGatta
Ida G. LaGatta, 73, of 917 Floyd Ave. passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2010 in the Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 5, 1936 in Rome a daughter of John and Marieanne LeQueau Giarrusso. On November 19, 1955, in St. John the Baptist Church, she married Michael A. "Mickey" LaGatta, who passed away on December 28, 2003 after a marriage of 48 years. She was a graduate of RFA. She had worked for the New York Telephone Co. as an operator, retiring in 1993. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her times at the Turning Stone Casino.
Ida is survived by her beloved children, two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Dennis A. Gardner of Lee Center and Renee P. and Daniel C. Crowley of Spencerport; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen J. and Lori LaGatta of West Leyden; her cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan and Susan Gardner, Brad Gardner, Jillian Gardner, Stephen, Michael and Danielle Crowley, Dillon Meagher, Delaney Meagher and Stephen J. LaGatta, Jr.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Zucca of GA, Rose Raulli of Rome and Louise and Richard Adolfi of FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Michael A. LaGatta, III; two sisters, Jennie Colangelo and Mafalda Scicchitano; four brothers-in-law, Vito Colangelo, Gregory Scicchitano, Ray Raulli and Donald Zucca.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 from the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. Rome and at 11:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
