VERONA — A 15-year-old Pittsford native who is regarded as one of the top junior golfers in the nation, Gavin Hall, has received the last of the four sponsor’s exemptions available for the Turning Stone Resort Championship scheduled next week at Atunyote Golf Club.
Hall has won back-to-back New York State Boys Amateur titles, including shooting rounds of 68 and 65 to win it last year at Skaneateles Country Club.
The upcoming sophomore for Pittsford High School also made it to the U.S. Junior Amateur and was the medalist in a US Amateur local qualifier at Crag Brun in Amherst.
He was also the winner of the Rochester District Amateur Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford from July 13-17, winning by 18 strokes with scores of 65, 55, 68 and 73.
Turning Stone’s other three sponsor exemptions have been given to Oneida Indian Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter and PGA Tour veterans Notah Begay III, the event’s ambassador, and Chris Smith.
The field for the tourney scheduled to tee off next Thursday at Atunyote will be finalized today.
