Eggan named first-team all-star for CNYCL team
Rome Free Academy’s Allyson Eggan is among the first-team selections of the Central New York Counties League National all-star baseball team selected by league coaches.
The junior was a first-team pick for the Lady Black Knights, while teammates junior Alexis Zakala was named as a second team all-star, and junior Nicole Kieffer was listed as an honorable mention.
Other first-team all-stars included Utica Proctor’s Kaitlyn Brown, Henninger High of Syracuse’s Meghan Karasinski, Baldwinsville’s Katrina Conklin and Kristen Biederman, Liverpool’s Emily Dumas and Beth Lamison, as well as Brittany Paul, Sidney Harbaugh and Sidney O’Hara all from Cicero-North Syracuse.
Rome made it to the first round of the Section III Class AA playoffs before falling to Fayetteville-Manlius, 3-2.
Eggan finished the season leading the Lady Knights in average at .414 in 70 at-bats, in hits at 29, runs at 28, and RBIs with 14.
She also hit a home run, six doubles, six triples, and drew nine walks at the plate. She only had four strikeouts and was 14-for-15 in stolen base attempts.
Her defensive skills were nearly flawless as well this season, finishing with a .910 fielding percentage.
