HAMILTON — The Colgate hockey team will host St. Lawrence in a best-of-three ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series starting tonight at 7 at Starr Rink.
Game 2 is scheduled at the same time Saturday, and a third game, if needed, would also be played at 7 on Sunday.
The winner of the series will advance to next weekend’s semifinals and championship game in Albany.
Colgate earned a first-round bye on Feb. 26 with a combination of a 3-2 victory over Rensselaer and Dartmouth’s win at St. Lawrence, marking the first time the Raiders have hosted a best of three quarterfinal series at Starr since the 2005-06 season.
The Raiders’ record sits at 15-13-6 overall and 12-8-2 in league play and are coming off a 5-2 win over Union on Senior Day on Feb. 25.
St. Lawrence, 17-14-7 overall and 9-8-5 in league play, enters as the fifth-seeded team.
The Saints scored twice in the final five minutes of the third and deciding game last weekend to close out 12th-seeded Clarkson 3-2.
The last time Colgate and St. Lawrence met in a playoff series at Starr Rink was in the 2007-08 season, when Colgate won the last two games of the first-round series to advance to the quarterfinals, where it upset Clarkson and moved onto Albany.
