WHITESTOWN — The Rome Free Academy hockey squad pulled out its third win in four games on Wednesday after coming up with a 3-1 decision over Westmoreland in a Division II East matchup at the Whitestown Community Center.
Recently returning Black Knights player Nic Tardugno managed to chip in two goals en route to the RFA win.
Tardugno returned to the ice last Friday in RFA’s league matchup with Clinton after suffering a wrist injury that sidelined him for six weeks.
Joey Rutkowski also picked up his first goal of the season and also had an assist.
Robbie Waller and Jeff Holzberger each contributed with an assist as well.
RFA goaltender Anthony D’Urso made 16 saves in the net.
Chet Galinski scored the lone Bulldog goal on assists by Jesse Pratt and Alex Foster.
Goalkeeper Brandon Crane had 32 stops in the net for Westmoreland.
The Black Knights increase their league record to 9-2-1 and are 11-5-2 overall, while the Bulldogs drop to 0-10-2 in the league and 3-13-2 overall.
RFA will host New Hartford on Friday at 7 p.m., while Westmoreland hosts Whitesboro next Tuesday at 7:30.
