CAZENOVIA — The Rome Free Academy Black Knights kept up their pace in the Section III Division II East standings on Friday night as they skated to a 3-3 tie against Cazenovia after one period of overtime.
TJ Reilley scored two goals for the Romans and added an assist, while Max Bartell peppered the back of the net for the other RFA tally against the Lakers, who moved to 5-1-2 in the league standings and 9-3-2 overall.
The Black Knights skated out to a fast 2-0 start after the first period, but the Lakers battled back to tie the score in the second before the two teams split goals in the final period to push the contest into overtime.
Both goalies were stout in net as they shut out both team’s offenses to preserve the tie.
RFA sophomore goal keeper Anthony D’Urso recorded 33 saves while the Lakers’ Mason Powell had 11.
Brian Gara, Sam Lewis and Sean Cannizzaro scored goals for the hosts.
Eric Joyce, Garrett Reilley, and Jeff Holtzberger each added an assist for RFA, which has 15 points in league play this season with a 7-2-1 league record and also have a 9-5-2 overall record.
The Black Knights are two points behind New Hartford for the top spot in the division.
The Black Knights will take on visiting Clinton next Friday in a 7 p.m. start at Kennedy Arena.
