The results from Tuesday’s voting aren’t final yet, but it is known that there will be a host of federal, state and local contests on the ballot next year.
Terms for such offices as governor, U.S. senator, congressman, county clerk and sheriff all expire next year.
Here’s a rundown of officeholders who will have to decide whether to seek another term:
U.S. Senate (six-year term): Charles E. Schumer, Democrat.
House of Representatives (two years): Rep. Michael A. Arcuri, D-24, Utica; and Rep.-elect William A. Owens, D-23, Plattsburgh.
Governor (four years): David A. Paterson, Democrat.
Attorney general (four years): Andrew M. Cuomo, Democrat.
State Comptroller: Thomas P. DiNapoli, Democrat.
State Senate (two years): Joseph A. Griffo, R-47, Rome; and David J. Valesky, R-49, Oneida.
State Assembly (two years): RoAnn M. Destito, D-116, Rome; David R. Townsend Jr., R-115, Sylvan Beach; and William D. Magee, D-111, Nelson.
County clerk (four years): Sandra J. DePerno, Democrat.
Sheriff (four years): Daniel G. Middaugh, Republican
Coroner (four years): Mark C Bentz, Republican; and Stephen S Wolanin, Republican.
Additionally, there will be offices on the ballot in some of the county’s 26 towns and 19 villages and City of Utica. No terms expire in Rome.
