A new $400,000 home for Griffiss Utility Services Corp. has been approved by the city, and it will now need only an easement for site access.
The five-member Planning Board voted unanimously at Thursday night’s meeting to issue a negative declaration of environmental impact and to approve the site plan.
The utility company plans to erect an office building on Ellsworth Road at Griffiss Business and Technology Park. The 3,500 square foot, single-story office building will replace the company’s office within the Griffiss Local Development Corp.’s building at 153 Brooks Road. The new construction will cost an estimated $400,000. The company has five employees, but also has two to three contract employees in its office at any given time.
The company is seeking an easement from the Oneida County Industrial Development Agency for access to the site, and might build the foundation while seeking the easement, in order to speed up construction. The plan is to complete a three- to four-month construction project and move in between May and July of 2010.
