‘Fritz’s recording honors veterans

Fritz’s Polka Band from Verona has released its 17th recording "Tribute" a special recording dedicated to veterans.

Produced by FPB’s sponsor, Jagermeister, it features five original FPB songs. It was recorded in April 2009 at Tuffy’s Barn in Sangerfield.

"The guys in Fritz’s Polka Band are excited about releasing this specially-themed new recording," said Fritz Scherz, band leader. "The opening cut, ‘Come Home Safe’ was written by me with my friend, Mike Bolton in mind, as at the time of writing the song, he was on his fifth tour of Iraq. The ballad ‘Tribute’ was written by my Dad in memory of Corporal John P. Sigsbee who was killed in Iraq on Jan.16, 2008. Earlier this year, my band had the honor and privilege to perform the song ‘Tribute’ at the Corporal John P. Sigsbee Post Office dedication in Waterville."

The CD won’t be for sale. It will be given to fan club members. "Of course, anyone is welcome to join the fan club," he noted.

"We know our veterans gave a lot, and this is just a small way of us saying thanks!", he said.

Fritz’s Polka Band has been performing for over 31 years.
