A 46-year-old man will face multiple charges after law enforcers said his attempts to break down his ex-girlfriend’s door caused an eye injury to her early Monday morning.
Police said Peter Merchant II, of 519 W. Dominick St., tried to force his way through his ex-companion’s front door at 2:28 a.m. His actions caused the door to break and splinter, and a piece of wood hit the 39-year-old woman in the eye. The victim told police that she refused to open the door when Merchant kept knocking. She lived at a neighboring apartment in the 500 block of W. Dominick St.
Arrested for third-degree assault and fourth-degree mischief, both misdemeanors, police said Merchant was held in lockup overnight to await his court appearance.
