The Zoning Board of Appeals will hear a plan Wednesday for the new location of Sano’s Sauce & Spice Co., a relocation to Floyd Avenue.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at City Hall.
Mid York Development Corp., the parent company of Sano’s, owning property at 1331 Floyd Ave., is seeking a special use permit for permission to establish a wholesale operation under 5,000 square feet. The company was previously located on East Dominick Street.
•John Eggan III, with interest in 7435 Canterbury Hill Road, is seeking a special exemption for permission to expand a non-conforming use — contractor storage — by approximately 125 percent. An expansion of up to 25 percent is the maximum permitted.
•Rome Teachers Federal Credit Union, 924 Turin St., is seeking a rehearing for permission to increase signage in a residential zone with lighting. The area variance request comes after the original approval in May, when the board amended the plan, removing lighting. Now the credit union is asking for the board to allow lighting, despite one neighbor’s opposition in May that resulted in the amendment.
The board could also hear two previously tabled commercial requests.
•The first is from James Wilson, 601 East Linden St., who is seeking a use variance for permission to establish a home occupation computer repair business with no more than five daily customers between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. The board tabled the item so that Wilson could provide proof that there is no self-created financial hardship associated with using the property only for an allowed use, a requirement for a use variance.
•Thomas Roman, owner of 7735 Oriskany Road, is seeking a use variance for permission to establish a contractor storage building in the rear yard. It was tabled last month because the board was waiting for county comment on the proposal.
•Also tabled last month was a use variance request from Mahar Younan, owner of 214 ½ Pleasant Ave., for permission to establish a parking lot as a primary use. Younan did not appear at the October meeting.
•The final new agenda item is an area variance request from Magead Salloum, owner of 720 W. Thomas St., requesting permission to reduce the front set back to three feet with construction of a front porch. The minimum set back in a R-2 residential zone is 15 feet.
