The City of Rome’s Indoor Park will open to the public on Wednesday.
The park is located in the Pinti Field clubhouse on Sixth Street. The facility is geared to encourage play and to help stimulate motor, social and psychological development among children ages 1 to 6. The park is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and also the second and forth Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.
A season’s pass to the park is $30 for Rome residents and $40 for non-residents. Day passes are also available for $3 (with a limit of $9 per family per visit) for Rome residents and $4 (with a limit of $12 per family per visit) for non-members.
"We are excited to reopen the Indoor Park again this year," said Parks Director Richard A. Miller. "Since its inception, the Indoor Park has been one of the most popular parts of our Parks and Recreation program. Children, and parents, really look forward to going to the park and being able to engage in active and enriching play all winter long; to get out of the house during the cold winter months and to socialize and play."
"Not only is the park great fun for kids, it is an important tool," Miller said, "and helps serve kids emotional and psychological needs as well as physical needs. Children need play and learn through play," Miller added. The Indoor Park will once again be available to rent for parties and private gatherings on weekends and weeknights. Information on renting the facility is also available by contacting the department at 339-7656 or by e-mailing nspadafora@romegov.com.
