Red Ribbon Week 5K run Saturday
UTICA — The Utica Road Runners and the Mohawk Valley Council on Alcoholism/Addictions will partner up to put on a 5-kilometer run/walk event to help celebrate Red Ribbon Week on Saturday at Proctor Park on Rutger Street.
Registration is between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. with the run/walk beginning at 10. If registered by Wednesday, the cost is $15 per runner, any time after or at the event is $20 per runner.

Flea market at Utica-Rome Speedway
VERNON — The Utica-Rome Speedway will shift their gears and present a Racer’s Flea Market on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
General admission is $5 per person. Vendor spaces are available by contacting Utica-Rome Speedway director of operations Barb Clark at 725-5709.
Advance tickets are also available for the track’s annual awards banquet to be held on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino. The cost is $30 per person.
Oriskany basketball clinic Sunday
ORISKANY — A basketball shooting clinic will be held on Sunday at the Oriskany Junior and Senior High School between 3 and 5 p.m.
The program will be instructed by Scott and Al Knapp, who will teach students how to shoot off the dribble, off a pick/screen and on the catch.
The clinic is open to any and all students between the ages of 7 and 12 and will be limited to the first 36 players paid and registered. The cost is $30 per person. For more information, contact Oriskany boys varsity basketball coach Bob Reid at 768-2063.
Training sessions for new officials
CANASTOTA — The Central New York Track and Field Officials Association is seeking new officials for the upcoming season and will be holding training sessions on Tuesday, Nov. 10 and Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the Canastota High School from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m.
