MARCY — Carole Torok-Huxtable of Ava has been elected chair of the Board of Directors of Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency.

Torok-Huxtable, the co-president of the League of Women Voters of Utica/Rome, succeeds the Rev. Thomas Hast of Rome, pastor of Bartlett Baptist Church.

Other officers elected at the board’s annual meeting on June 22 are Vice Chair Darlene Mack-Brown of Utica, Secretary Terry Leonard of Herkimer and Treasurer Mary Kline of Herkimer.

New officers will take office Sept. 1, 2009.

The board also welcomed its newest member at the meeting. Vickie Ortiz of Utica was named to the board representing the Head Start Policy Council.
