Sophie F. Bunal, 82, of 7792 Merrick Rd., Rome, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, in Utica. She was born on July 12, 1926, in Boonville, the daughter of George and Valerie Gil Bienick. She attended Poland Central High School.

On February 11, 1956, Sophie was united in marriage to Peter A. Bunal. Mr. Bunal passed away on March 16, 2004.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Arno, of Frankfort; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kimberly Bunal, of Rome; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen and Edmund Lekki, Rome, Katherine Stys, Utica, and Margaret Kupiec, Utica; a brother, Joseph Bienick, Utica; and three grandsons, Christopher Bunal and his girlfriend, Brianna Dryer, and Mark and Michael Bunal.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2008, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., at 9:45 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 AM where the Rev. Robert Kelly will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
