The Rome Free Academy boys junior varsity soccer squad captured their eighth victory of the season by blanking Henninger, 3-0, on Tuesday.
Dakota Costello scored all three goals for Rome, as Brandon Bielby and Dominic Storms assisted on all of them. Goalkeeper Gavin Maloney made four saves in the net to record his eighth shutout of the season.
RFA’s record is now 8-5-4 overall for the year.
RFA girls post ninth victory
The RFA girls soccer club pulled out a 4-0 shutout victory against Henninger to record their ninth win of the season.
Lindsay Nowicki was the lead scorer for the Lady Knights with one goal and contributing with three assists.
Courtney Wheeler, Halie Schoff, and Nicole Vanderjagt each picked up goals, as well, while Megan O’Connell made two assists.
The Lady Knights increase their record to 9-6-2, following the shutout.
Westmoreland wins in double OT
In other girls junior varsity soccer action, Westmoreland came away with a 4-3 victory over Canastota in double overtime.
Marie Dardano was the lead scorer for the Bulldogs with two goals and two assists, while Allison Smith and Lindsay Rivet each nailed in a goal apiece, as well. Kendra McGregor also made an assist.
Goalies Kelley Citrin and Alesha Romeo combined for 13 saves in the net for the Bulldogs win.
Westmoreland now jumps their record to 10-2-1 overall.
RFA battles to scoreless tie
The RFA junior varsity field hockey club played Fayetteville-Manlius to a scoreless tie on Tuesday.
Danielle Famolaro had fives saves in the net during the first half for RFA, and Megan Kaier made eight saves in the second half to secure the scoreless tie.
RFA’s record moves to 4-9-1 after the tie.
RFA grabs second win
In girls modified soccer play, RFA came home with their second victory of the season as the squad defeated Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, 3-1.
Holly Hash was the lead scorer for RFA with one goal and one assist, while Brooke Miller and Gianna Pasqualetti each picked up a goal in the Rome win, as well.
Alexia Gualtieri, Carly McCoy, Linda Martin, and Jossie Emmanuelle each made an assist.
Goal keeper Tiffany O’Connor made six saves in the net for the Lady Knights.
RFA increases their record to 2-8-1 overall for the season.
Westmoreland crushes Remsen
The Westmoreland boys modified soccer squad improved their record to 6-1 on the season with an 8-0 shutout victory over Remsen in Westmoreland.
Eight different Bulldog players contributed to the offensive charge, that was led by Brandon Murphy with three goals.
Andrew Zimmerman and Cody Hatton each made out with two goals, while J.T. Dee nailed in one goal, as well.
Austin Elliott, Jacob Landry, Morgan Rolewicz, and Austin Acee each recorded assists in the win.
The Bulldogs will travel on the road to Morrisville-Eaton for their next game on Thursday.
