Mayor helps Wednesday Morning Club start new year of programming

Mayor Jacqueline M. Izzo addressed the opening luncheon of the Wednesday Morning Club at The Beeches, 7900 Turin Street.

The mayor shared with club members the city’s plans for a $10 million state grant as part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. Among the many projects included in the city’s DRI include upgrades to City Hall, renovations at the Capitol Theatre and the demolition of the George Street parking garage.

Wednesday Morning Club President Susan Divine welcomed members to the organization’s 126th year. She was joined by fellow club officers: Holly Amidon, first vice president; Mary Anne Kenny, second vice president; Patricia Trophia, secretary; and Kathleen Montague, treasurer.

Members also discussed the upcoming year’s programming.

The Wednesday Morning Club is a social organization that discusses current relevant topics and holds weekly study group presentations for it members.
