Rome DMV office needs more staff
Several months ago I voiced my displeasure with the severe understaffing of our Rome Motor Vehicles office. I waited in line then over an hour to register my privately owned vehicle. Ahead of me was one auto dealer who registered 14 vehicles, obviously without appointment.
I returned yesterday (June 27) amid another long line which took only 40 minutes. Nothing seems to have changed including my frustration.
With vehicle registration and taxes costing the highest in all 50 states, when will the average Rome resident get some serious relief? Surely, our county legislature can appropriate sufficient funding to staff our DMV properly and streamline this burdensome process. Even just two or three more trained clerks would make a giant step forward.
