More sensitivity needed for absent staff
Perhaps the Rome schools superintendent could use some sensitivity regarding absences of staff members. How many of those who are using leave have cancer? How many have a chronically ill child?
How many have debilitating conditions like lupus, diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis? How many are caring for a frail elderly parent? How many work in a building so understaffed that they develop crippling anxiety? How many are undergoing surgeries?
Before the district publicly insults these overworked and dedicated professionals, let’s make sure we aren’t making them sicker by these cruel accusations. By the way, we all wish we were as healthy as a 15 year old.
