DACA students contribute to community

I am consistently ashamed of Claudia Tenney’s views of vital issues in our country.  Celebrating the potential loss of health insurance for thousands of central New York citizens seemed like the last straw. But no, she continues to betray our citizens. Tenney has rubber-stamped President Trump’s cruel betrayal of hundreds of thousands of DACA young people. Perplexing stance when she is supposed to represent Utica, which is a welcoming haven for immigrants and refugees.

DACA students are intensely vetted. They must be in school, the military or employed.  They do not receive welfare benefits. They are law-abiding, tax-paying, contributing members of our community. The Trump/Tenney decision seems like yet another shameful, anti-immigrant, anti-Hispanic hateful policy. Tenney does not represent the majority of central New Yorkers who are compassionate and moral.
