Oneida County November food service inspections
Oneida County Health Department inspectors conduct unannounced and periodic checks of food service establishments to determine if they comply with the state codes, rules and regulations.
Here are health department ratings after recent inspections:
Restaurant conditions were found unsatisfactory.
NO. 1 CHINESE RESTAURANT NY, 1122 Mohawk St., Utica, Nov. 28. Fryers, stoves, prep tables and dish washing found covered with grease, grime, and crumbs. Rodent feces found in employee bathroom. Excessive flies found under dish washing area. Rodents nests found in kitchen and employee bathroom. Empty boxes, garbage, dirty garments and unused equipment littering the facility. Floors by dish washing area, stoves, fryers and food prep tables were coated with thick grime and grease. Kitchen and employee bathroom are cluttered.
The following establishments were in substantial compliance with sanitary code. However, some violations were noted.
JOHN’S PIZZA, 9250 St. Rte. 49, Marcy, Oct. 31. Spoiled can of sauce found open and stored in walk-in cooler, corrected.
CHINA GOURMET, 261 Utica Blvd., Boonville, Nov. 3. Multiple baskets of fried chicken and fried egg rolls stored throughout facility between 63 and 66 degrees for over two hours, corrected. Wire baskets with egg rolls and fried chicken stored on boxes, shelves and equipment. Bags of chicken, pork and cabbage stored on walk-in cooler floor.
RIVERSIDE DINER, 9663 River Road, Marcy, Nov. 6. Microwave oven needed cleaning, corrected.
NEY AVENUE HEAD START, 1110 Ney Ave., Utica, Nov. 7. Dirt, dust and mouse droppings found in dry goods storage room. Storage room had dirt, dust and debris under shelves.
SUBWAY, 8455 Seneca Turnpike, New Hartford, Nov. 9. A box of green bell peppers found stored in floor. Chipped and missing tiles in kitchen. Valid permit not on display.
MCDONALD’S RESTAURANT, 8522 Seneca Turnpike, Nov. 13. Soda machine cabinets needed cleaning. Floor under soda tanks needed cleaning.
DUNKIN’ DONUTS, 31 Schuyler St., Utica, Nov. 14. Evidence of rodent activity found in bathrooms.
BELLA REGINA, 239 Genesee St., Nov. 14. Insect activity was observed under sinks and behind cooler in the dish washing room, and Coke cooler in the kitchen. Grime, grease and crumbs found under sinks, prep table and along cooler in the dish washing room.
MAIN ST. TAVERN, 2298 Dewing Avenue, Clayville, Nov. 28. Refrigerator bottom and shelving and kitchen floors near fryers were covered in grease and grime.
RISING STARS SPORT CENTER, 4980 St. Rte. 233, Westmoreland, Nov. 29. Food containers were stored on kitchen floor. Grime and sludge were found on women’s bathroom floor.
GARRAMONE’S RESTAURANT, 11770 O’Brien Road, Forestport, Nov. 29. Storage drawers near fryers had grime and crumbs. Grease had built up on ventilation hood.
DUNKIN’ DONUTS, 7481 St. Rte. 5, Clinton, Nov. 29. Grime and crumbs were found under walk-in cooler shelving.
