Oneida County Health Department January restaurant inspections
Oneida County Health Department inspectors conduct unannounced and periodic checks of food service establishments to determine if they comply with the state codes, rules and regulations. Here are health department ratings after recent inspections:
Restaurant conditions were found unsatisfactory.
PIZZA WINGS & THINGS, 700 Oriskany Blvd., Yorkville. Bucket of cigarettes and ashes on kitchen and dishwashing area. Cutting board has pitted surfaces, corrected. No sanitizer or bleach for manual dishwashing facilities. Cutting board dirty, corrected. Insects and rodents present. Floor under stoves and other equipment is dirty. Walk-in cooler floor is dirty. Ventilation hood is dirty. Restaurant operating without a valid permit.
The following restaurants were previously found unsatisfactory. A reinspection was recently completed.
The following establishments were in substantial compliance with sanitary code. However, some violations were noted.

CHINA HOUSE ONEIDA, 3913 Oneida St., Washington Mills, Jan. 12. Cardboard used to line shelves, light fixtures not properly shielded.
CHEN FORTUNE COOKIE, 4456 Suite C, Commercial Dr., New Hartford, Jan. 17. Cooked chicken left at 68 degrees for over two hours, corrected. Bag of onions stored on floor. Cardboard used to line shelves. Kitchen floor dirty.
JAK’S BAR & GRILL, 7336 Trenton Road, Barneveld, Jan. 18. Grime on kitchen floor around garbage can.
SAIGON HOUSE, 8469 Seneca Tpk., New Hartford, Jan. 18. Raw beef thawing on counter. Floor beneath equipment is dirty.
ROLY POLY, 8457 Seneca Tpk., New Hartford, Jan. 18. Sliced Cheddar cheese stored on top of counter at 49 degrees over two hours, corrected.
LITTLE CAESAR’S PIZZA, 140 Black River Blvd., Jan. 23. Two fly strips hanging over food rep stations, corrected. Wire rack shelves in walk-in cooler need cleaning.
RED SAMURAI JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE, 8562 Seneca Tpk., New Hartford, Jan. 25. Bag of floor stored on floor. Two coolers missing thermometers. Cardboard used to line shelf and cardboard on walk-in freezer floor.
TOP OF THE MORNING CAFE, 414 Trenton Ave., Utica, Jan. 26. Banana cream pie in desert cooler at 67 degrees for over two hours, corrected.
SAMMY G’S, 417 W. Dominick St., Jan. 26. Shelf below grill holding sauces, blue bin holding utensils by prep cooler and dispensing bottles holding barbecue sauce and margarine all need cleaning.
MOE’S SOUTHWEST GRILL, 1877 Black River Blvd., Jan. 26. Two crates holding red chili sauce in cooler have mold and need cleaning.
NOLA’S/THE ANNEX, 9 W. Park Row, Clinton, Jan. 27. Floor in kitchen and dishwashing areas is dirty. Floor in dishwashing area in disrepair.
CUGINI’S PIZZERIA, 8182 St. Rte. 12, Barneveld, Jan. 27. Pizza boxes stored on kitchen floor. Wiping cloths not stored in sanitizer and left on counters and sinks in facility. Cooler holding sausage and pizza toppings is grimy on bottom shelf.
DUNKIN’ DONUTS, 8035 St. Rte. 12, Barneveld, Jan. 27. Spoons used to stir coffee drinks stored in a cup of dirty, stagnant water. Food and crumbs on floor of walk-in freezer.
