Oneida County food service inspections
Oneida County Health Department inspectors conduct unannounced and periodic checks of food service establishments to determine if they comply with the state codes, rules and regulations. Here are health department ratings after recent inspections:
Restaurant conditions were found unsatisfactory.
The following restaurants were previously found unsatisfactory. A reinspection was recently completed.
The following establishments were in substantial compliance with sanitary code. However, some violations were noted.
DUNKIN’ DONUTS, 7995 St. Rte. 12, Barneveld, Jan. 2. Cooler shelf had sauce and grime on it. Floors near baking oven and hand wash sink have crumbs and grit in the corners.
SHERI’S EASTSIDE DINER, 2199 Bleecker St., Utica, Jan. 4. Crumbs found in shelves and open cooler in kitchen. walk-in cooler floor was rusty.
BOONVILLE ELKS LODGE #2158, 13054 St. Rte. 12, Boonville, Jan. 9. Cases of water, soda and beer stored on floor. Kitchen cooler lacked a thermometer. Crumbs found in cooler and kitchen floor.
8 FRESH, 8 College St., Clinton, Jan. 9. Cooked corn, taco cheese stored above minimum 45 degrees, corrected. Prep cooler and back storage coolers needed thermometers.
KILLABREW SALOON, 10 Clinton Road, New Hartford, Jan. 9. Kitchen floor missing tiles.
VFW REMSEN MEMORIAL POST 982, 10526 Steuben St., Remsen, Jan. 11. Water cases found stored on floor.
CHEN FORTUNE COOKIE, 4456 Suite C Commercial Drive, New Hartford, Jan. 16. Broccoli bucket, raw beef and Pepsi improperly stored. Unfinished plywood used as shelving. Glass doors and sides of small cooler dirty with grease and crumbs. Metal lid on prep cooler dirty with grease. Kitchen floor is dirty with grease and grime near stoves, grill, fryers,coolers and shelves.

CORE LIFE EATERY, 4517 Commercial Drive, New Hartford, Jan. 17. Blue cheese and white cheddar cheese near sale prep cooler stored at unsafe temperatures, corrected. Wire rack in dishes area covered in food debris.
THE VILLAGE DINER, 8210 St. Rte. 12, Barneveld, Jan. 18. Cooked bacon improperly stored, corrected. Green beans, vanilla icing and Texas Toast squares stored on floor, corrected. Meatloaf uncovered, corrected.
HOTEL MOORE, 113 Mappa Ave., Barneveld, Jan. 18. Grime built-up under three-bay sink, kitchen was cluttered.
LUKIN’S BRICKOVEN PIZZA & LOUNGE, 640 Varick St., Jan. 22. Pot of meatballs and sauce was kept at 116 degrees for 30 minutes, below minimum temperature of 165 degrees. Corrected. Employee drink found near food prep area, corrected. Food workers needed proper hair restraints.
NAIL CREEK PUB & BREWERY, 720 Varick St., Utica, Jan. 22. Chicken breasts held below minimum 140 degrees, corrected. Hot holding equipment is not in use. Valid permit not posted.
SUBWAY, 184 N. Genesee St., Utica, Jan. 25. Crumbs found inside sandwich prep cooler. Walk-in cooler shelf had crumbs and rust. Dry goods shelf had crumbs.
JRECK SUBS, 54 Main St., Camden, Jan. 25. Hose found in sink bay, corrected. Store operated without a valid permit.
LA ROMA’S OF CAMDEN, 3 Harden Blvd., Camden, Jan. 25. Food found stored on cooler floor, corrected.
O’SCUGNIZZO’S NORTH UTICA, 50 Auert Ave., Utica, Jan. 29. Frozen steaks found thawing on counter. Wet wipe cloth not stored in sanitizing solution. Floor under fryer was dirty.
