Old Tyme Fiddlers’ Association hosts Season Kickoff Party May 27
VILLAGE OF OSCEOLA — Good food, entertainment, and celebration will mark this year’s “Season Kickoff Party” as the New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers’ Association’s celebrates the grand opening of its new “Fiddler’s Kitchen from 12:30-5 p.m. Sunday, May 27.
Scheduled are a dish-to-pass luncheon at 12:30 p.m., Kitchen Ribbon Cutting at 2 p.m. and a fiddle jam from 1-5 p.m., all at the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame and Museum, 1121 Comins Road.
Several years ago, the fiddlers’ association decided to build a new kitchen after realizing their food vendor’s 34-year-old camper/food truck was nearing the end of its useful life. After a lengthy campaign to secure funds and volunteers, a free-standing kitchen was built and equipped. Thanks to those efforts, concert-goers can continue to enjoy the fresh cooked meals and desserts they have come to expect without leaving the premises and missing part of the show.
The free concert is funded in part by the state Council on the Arts, a state agency, with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state legislature. All facilities are handicapped accessible and the pavilion is enclosed in bad weather. Folding chairs are provided, but many prefer to bring their favorite chairs.
On Sunday, June 3, the young members of Fiddlin’ Future, NYSOTFA’s youth chapter, will play from 2-5 p.m. The full season’s schedule is as follows:
