Lottery starts for $25 tickets to ‘Rent’ on tour in Utica

UTICA — A lottery to purchase $25 tickets to see “Rent” in Utica is underway through Monday.

The “Rent” 20th anniversary tour will be in the Stanley April 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m.

The lottery is for the first two rows of the orchestra section available for $25 for each performance of Rent, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical.

You can enter your name in the lottery selection process beginning today through 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Broadway Utica offices, 258 Genesee Street, Utica or by calling the office at 315-724-7196.

Names for the Wednesday performance will be drawn on Monday at 3 p.m. , and names for the Thursday performance will be drawn on Tuesday at 3 p.m.. Lottery winners will be notified by phone.

The Wednesday night winners will need to purchase their tickets no later than Tuesday at 3 p.m., and the Thursday night winners no later than Wednesday at 3 p.m.

$25 tickets are available for cash and credit card purchases and are limited to two tickets per person.  

The tradition of the $25 tickets began in 1996 in New York when the show moved to Broadway after a sold-out run in a small downtown theatre.

The producers of the show are committed to continuing the tradition of offering orchestra seats for $25 in each city the show will play.
