A seventh annual Back-to-School Supply Drive by the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area will run through Aug. 11, according to an announcement by the organization.

Local schools, programs, and agencies in Oneida and Herkimer counties will receive school supplies to help offset the financial burden that some families face during the back-to-school season, said the United Way.

Donations will be accepted at Berkshire Bank in Oneida and Herkimer county locations, plus Boscov’s at Sangertown Square in New Hartford, the announcement added.

Individuals wishing to donate but unable to drop off supplies may purchase school supply kits at www.unitedwaykits.com online.

Last year, more than 22,000 items equating to more than $23,000 in value were collected, the United Way said. In addition to supplies, more than $2,400 in monetary donations was raised.

Businesses or organizations with questions about how to institute a school supply drive at their workplace can contact Keri Kane at 315–733–4691, ext. 226, or kerik@unitedwayvgu.org by email.
