Test drives to benefit programs at schools
A Buick Drive for your Students Test Drive fundraiser for Rome schools will be held Thursday from 2:30-8 p.m. at Rome Free Academy in conjunction with Davidson Auto Group and the RFA PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) team.
The event will be during RFA’s open house activities, said school district Superintendent Peter C. Blake.
“Buick will donate $10 for each test drive up to a total of $10,000 to our school,” Blake said in his online blog. “New this year, members from our other schools (including Strough Middle School plus Staley, Bellamy, and Gansevoort elementary schools) will also have an opportunity to raise money for their schools at this event.”
Davidson Auto Group will bring Buicks to RFA for the test drives.
“Any driver age 18 or older with a valid license and proof of insurance is encouraged to come and test-drive a Buick to help raise money for our students,” said Blake. “We are encouraging all of the Rome city schools to support this event.”
A similar event to support the RFA PBIS team was held last year.
The state mandates that school districts develop PBIS strategies for improving behavioral and social-emotional outcomes for students. PBIS is typically a multi-tiered system of supports to create and maintain positive school climates, according to the state.
