School district to interview architects
Interviews of three business finalists to become the Rome school district’s new provider of architectural services will be conducted by the Board of Education at a special meeting Wednesday night.
The meeting, which also will include presentations by the businesses, will be in a closed executive session, said district Superintendent Peter C. Blake. It is at 5:30 p.m. at the district office, 409 Bell Road. Approval of an architectural services provider is anticipated at the board’s annual reorganization meeting in July, said Blake. District representatives have been visiting the headquarters of the three finalists and viewing the quality of their work in other school districts, Blake noted. Two of the visits were last week, while a third one was scheduled for today.
The board in January voted to seek proposals for architectural services for future school renovation projects, changing procedures that had been renewing usage of the March Associates firm of Utica each year; the three finalists are all from out of the area.
Among potential upcoming renovation projects is one that would involve various work needed at Rome Free Academy and Staley Elementary School.
