Rome school district families soon will receive the district’s 2017-18 calendar, which is scheduled to arrive in hard-copy form in mailboxes by Sept. 1, the district said.

The calendar includes month-by-month listings of events scheduled at schools; dates when schools will not be in regular session such as holidays, vacation breaks, parent/teacher conferences and staff professional development days; and Board of Education meeting dates, among the information.

In addition, the district said, inside the calendar will be a copy of the district’s 2017 plain language “Code of Conduct;” a letter from Food Service Director Chris Whitmore; an application for free- and reduced-price school meals/milk which is based on family income; and breakfast/lunch menus for September.

Rome district schools will open for the 2017-18 year with regular sessions on Thursday, Sept. 7. The opening day will be preceded by superintendent’s conference days for staff on Sept. 5 and 6.

An electronic version of the calendar without the inserts is available at online, according to school district officials.
