A team of Remsen Central School District
students will travel to the National KidWind
Challenge wind turbine design competition which is May 24-25 in Anaheim, Calif., according to an announcement.

The team — consisting of students Evan Coopy, Kirk Daley and Jacob Kuiken — competed against 24 other teams at the Mohawk Valley Technology Education & Pre-Engineering Showcase last month at SUNY Poly. It qualified for the national competition after testing its hand-crafted wind turbine in a wind tunnel to calculate its wind energy output and placing second in the high school division.

Last year, 192 students from the U.S., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Australia competed at the National KidWind Challenge.
