OHM BOCES among top 20 schools in auto technology competition
NEW HARTFORD — The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) BOCES Career and Technical Education Center has bee named one of the top 20 schools for 2018 by the WIX Filters and O’Reilly Auto Parts School of the Year Competition, BOCES announced.
The schools, broken down by four regions nationally, have been asked to submit a video highlighting their tech programs; judges will select four finalists.
The winner will be selected with a formal announcement on Oct. 29, according to OHM BOCES officials.
The winning school will receive:
• A $5,000 WIX Filters donation to the school’s auto program;
• A visit by Tomorrow’s Tech staff and program sponsors;
• O’Reilly and WIX Filters gear; an appearance by the WIX or O’Reilly Auto Parts marketing unit; and
• Travel for the class instructor and a guest to Las Vegas to attend Babcox Media’s recognition dinner at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo.
The top 20 schools for the 13th annual competition were selected from 221 nominations across 91 U.S. schools, according to the announcement by OHM BOCES which is based in New Hartford.
This is the second year that its Career and Technical Education Center has been part of the top 20, BOCES added.
“We are honored with this recognition and must give credit to the partnerships we have that allow our students to learn not only in our program classroom and laboratory, but also in our regional automotive repair shops and service centers,” said David Stayton, principal of the OHM BOCES Career & Technical Education Center.

districts: Brookfield, Clinton, Holland Patent, New Hartford, New York Mills, Oriskany, Remsen, Sauquoit Valley, Utica, Waterville, Westmoreland and Whitesboro.
