Thoughts on intent

The intent of Congress was never to let the FBI redefine laws to fit its prejudices.

What then was the intent of former FBI director James Comey, who wrongly assumed the authority to spare Hillary Clinton from prosecution?

What was the intent of former FBI director and special prosecutor Robert Mueller, who wrongly assumed he could manufacture process crimes against anyone he chose?

What was the intent of the national media that has given a pass to the double standards of both Comey and Mueller?

Comey tried to declare Hillary Clinton free of charges by suggesting that Clinton had no criminal intent to delete, hide, or transmit classified emails. Comey knew intent was not part of the law when evidence showed Clinton broke the law.

Meanwhile, instead of using intent as a shield, special prosecutor Mueller wields intent as a weapon. The New York Times claims Mueller, “told [President Trump’s attorney] Dowd in early March that he needed to question the president directly to determine whether he had criminal intent when he fired Mr. Comey.”

That’s silly for so many reasons:

1) Mueller knows that a president can fire the FBI director for any reason or no reason at all.

2) Mueller knows that intent is not part of the law.

3) Mueller knows investigations would have continued at the FBI without Comey.

4) Mueller knows that DOJ Assistant Deputy Director Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller as special prosecutor, recommended to President Trump that Comey be fired.

Behind all the noise, what is the intent of major national media that seems intent on looking the other way? House investigations allege evidence that Obama’s national security adviser James Clapper leaked about the DNC-sponsored Trump dossier to CNN’s Jake Tapper. Tapper appears not to care that “journalists” who promote anonymous, unverified leaks become permanent, untrustworthy shills, pumping their own careers at the expense of their readers and viewers. Was that Tapper’s intent?

Considering Mueller’s questionable prosecutorial tactics to manufacture a case against Trump, is his intent to take down Trump, protect the Clinton machine, or cover those who overstepped their Obama-era jobs? Is Hillary Clinton’s intent to blame everyone else for her loss? Is the media intent to crusade for the big headline so long as it doesn’t involve obvious malfeasance of those it promoted before?

Enough! It seems like Groundhog Day, every day.
