Stanwix Club awards scholarships to students

The Stanwix Veterans and Men’s Club awarded over $8,000 in scholarships to 20 students from nine high schools. 11 scholarships were awarded to members’ children and nine were given to students selected by their guidance counselors.

The awards presentation took place Tuesday at the Stanwix Veterans and Men’s Club, 6774 Lamphear Road.

Recipients of the $600 member scholarships are:

¿ Julie Mondrick, of Oneida High School

¿ Michael Pekarski, of Rome Free Academy

¿ Autumn Koniowka, of Holland Patent High School

¿ Ashley Hawkins, of Westmoreland High School

¿ Sarah Burke, of Rome Free Academy

¿ Abigail Cornish, of Oneida High School

¿ David O’Connor Jr., of Oriskany High School

¿ Nicole Dardano, of Westmoreland High School

¿ Karen Castor, of Sandy Creek High School

¿ John Blaschak, of Rome Catholic School

Recipients of the $100 scholarships are:

¿ Nicole Dardano, of Westmoreland High School

¿ Rachel Hojnacki, of Rome Free Academy

¿ Miranda Parkhurst, of VVS High School

¿ Gabrielle Serra, of Holland Patent High School

¿ Nina Arno, of Camden High School

¿ Noah Lupini, of Oriskany High School

In addition, Alyssa Balfe, of Oriskany High School was awarded the $400 Colonel Eaton Scholarship. Fellow Oriskany graduates Emily McDonald and Sean O’Connor were awarded with $50 scholarships.
