Joanna B. Bartolotti, 74, of Rome, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012 with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 29, 1938 in Rome; a daughter of the late Louis Sr. "Bucky" and Antoinette "Nettie" Guglielmo Bartolotti.
She was a 1956 graduate of Rome Free Academy and then went on to receive her Associates Degree from Utica College. Joanna retired from the 485th EI Group at Griffiss Air Force Base in 1994 after 38 years of dedicated employment where she received many achievements and awards.
Joanna was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, the Legion of Mary, Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Griffiss Ski Club, and the Girls Club, which was a group of nine friends since grade school who gathered once a month until recently. She was an active member and officer of several golf, bowling, and bocce leagues through the years and also enjoyed skiing. Joanna found great pleasure in traveling, shopping, and fine dining but most of all her passion and thoughts were with her family. She would attend all of her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews sporting and school events. Joanna was always generous to others; during the Christmas Season she would visit nursing homes to hand out gifts. Her favorite pastime was going to the casino.
We find comfort in knowing that our parents, Nettie and Bucky, were there with open arms to greet their daughter, Joanna, Home.
She is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Linda Bartolotti, Anthony "Bucky" and Wenda Bartolotti, and Louis Jr. and Bonnie Bartolotti, all of Rome; nieces and nephews, Joseph Bartolotti, Linda and Mike Bailey, David Bartolotti, Sheri and Rob Waller, Joey Loughran, Jason and Shayna Bartolotti, and Jeffery Bartolotti; great-nieces and nephews, Danny, Michael, Hannah, Haley, Gianna, Mackenzi, Alyssa, Emily, and Nico; and a special friend, Terry Ziegler.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. DiMarco and staff and the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital for their care and concern.
Miss Bartolotti’s funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Paul Angelicchio. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gulla Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 209 N. Washington St., Rome, (336-5700).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Rome or the American Heart Association.
