Barbara J. Miles, 63, of Taberg, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Oneida Healthcare due to complications from Scleroderma. She was born on September 5, 1948, in Remsen, the daughter of Charles and Natalie Clayton Halwig. She attended Remsen schools.
Barbara was employed by the Turning Stone Resort and Casino for several years before retiring due to disability. She was previously employed by Birnie Bus.
She was a member of the Taberg Volunteer Fire Dept.
Surviving besides her fiance and constant companion of twenty years, Henry Prusinowski; are two daughters, Kristel Baker and her companion, Joe Skowron, and Joanne Snyder and her fiance, Roger Adams, all of Rome; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim Baker and his fiance, Georgianne Henderson, of Westernville, and Glenn and Heather Baker, of Floyd; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Carl Kirk, of Rome; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Keith and Heidi Halwig, of Remsen, Neil Halwig, of Marcy; eight grandchildren, Matthew Baker, Joseph Baker, Kyle Baker, Logan Baker, Branden Fox, Angel Fox, Cheyanne Snyder, and Emma Snyder; her ex-husband and friend, Clayton Baker, of Rome; a cherished dog, Sheba; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by a brother, Clayton Halwig.
Barbara’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff, nurses, and Doctors of Oneida Healthcare for all the kindness and compassion shown to her.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Prospect Cemetery, Prospect. Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
