TOWN OF LEE — The town is reminding people who are customers of its water district that for residents east of Turin Road, watering of lawns is allowed on even numbered days. For those west of Turin Road, watering is allowed on odd days.
The rule is in effect year-round, but is "even more critical in this dry time," according to an announcement today by town Water Supervisor David Piersall. People with questions can call the town clerk’s office at 336-3438. The restrictions are precautionary to help avoid possible strain on town water district reserves especially during hot dry weather, Supervisor John Urtz has said. Enforcement can include a $25 fine for a violation, plus Piersall is authorized to temporarily turn off water through individual users’ taps, Urtz has said.
The town, which purchases water from the City of Rome system, does not meter usage in its district. It has about 1,300 customer accounts.
