MARCY — A joint training exercise involving first responders and the military is set for July 11 to 15.
Participants will include the 401st Civil Affairs Battalion, Maynard and Stittville Fire departments, and Kunkel Ambulance. The 401st is an army reserve unit based in Monroe County.
The activity begins with a public briefing July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Maynard Fire Station No. 1, Maynard Drive.
Training will include medical evacuation procedures. The event brings together the Army Reserves, New York State National Guard and the Marcy community.
The 401st has been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq multiple times since the terror attacks in the U.S. in 2001. While deployed, the battalion spearheads rebuilding efforts through civil-military operations.
